Get To Know Our Leaders
What do you like most about SVP?
Caryn: The people, the people, the people. Partners giving and working to make our community a better place. Investees working tirelessly on behalf of people in need. Partners in the network sharing ideas and building out our model through best practices and innovation. And our executive director, Jennie, who holds us all together!
Cindy: I think pooling our resources, talent and time yields an exponential benefit to the non-profits we support.
Rich: The very personal satisfaction of knowing your time and talents are making a difference. And, the people both in the non-profit sector and the Partners.
Ruth: Its giving, plus! SVP has a great ripple effect on philanthropy.
Dan: Being able to join my fellow community members in making Boulder a better place by using one of the most dynamic approaches to engaged philanthropy practiced anywhere today.
How do you think SVP can/should make a bigger difference in Boulder County?
Cindy: I would love to see the partnership double! More people and funding could have a huge impact on our community. We would have increased funding for our investees, additional expertise to draw upon, and more ambassadors boosting awareness of our community's needs.
Caryn: I believe that SVP has an opportunity to be a real force for social change in Boulder County. Our combination of business smarts, social responsibility and the power of our partnership can make true change through strategic, creative work.
Rich: Creating more awareness and exposure to philanthropy among younger givers.
Do you have a favorite holiday tradition?
Rich: Every year we head up to the mountains on the Sunday before Christmas and soon after we arrive, turn the Christmas music on and decorate the house/tree.
Ruth: If you invite friends over the night before Thanksgiving, everyone is in a great mood. The holiday is coming, no one has work or school for four days--it makes for a casual, happy, festive evening.
Cindy: On Christmas day, we have some long time, dear friends over for a very leisurely lunch. It's a wonderful time for ease, reflection and love.
Dan: Decorating the Christmas tree with our children/family.
