Who We Invest In
SVP Boulder County currently supports four non-profits per year for an average of 3 years each. We believe our current investees will have significant impact in Boulder County (just as our alumni investees have) and will:
- Create innovative, effective and sustainable services or programs in Boulder County.
- Incorporate and commit to SVP mentorship support to build and strengthen their organization's internal capacity resulting in increased and/or improved services.
- Measure and evaluate their outcomes showing evidence of effectiveness and benchmarking the long term impact of their work.
- Demonstrate high degrees of leadership and competence among key staff members.
SVP funds only those organizations that are open to and can benefit from a partnership that includes volunteer involvement by SVP Partners.
SVP funds organizations with strong leadership and clear strategic vision, where we can contribute to the organization's infrastructure by supplying an infusion of human and financial resources.
Our financial commitment to an investee is currently $10,000 to $30,000 per year and at least 1.5 times that in in-kind services.
SVP currently supports organizations serving the following focus areas:
Aging & Seniors
SVP welcomes organizations focused on supporting seniors in maintaining their dignity, health, and independence and/or fully participating in all aspects of society and community life to apply. To be eligible, the majority of the population served by the prospective investee organization would have to be 60 and above and some portion of services would have to be made available to low-income individuals.
Early Child Development
Organizations supporting low-income, underserved children, ages 0 to 5, and their families, in the following areas are encouraged to apply: school readiness programs, early childhood development centers, mentoring and certification programs to strengthen professional development of care providers, advocacy for a comprehensive early childhood development system of care, parenting education and support.
Housing & Homelessness
Organizations focused on addressing the root causes of homelessness and housing inequalities, or serving low-income, housing deficient individuals are encouraged to apply. To be eligible, a majority of those served must be homeless, housing deficient, or at-risk of homelessness due to co-related issues such as addiction, mental illness, or physical disability. Clients must be primarily low-income.
Health Care Access
Organizations focused on preventative care and wellness programs, services not covered by insurance, or comprehensive healthcare are encouraged to apply. To be eligible, the majority of the population served must be either uninsured or qualify for reduced-rate or no-cost services due to financial need. Due to the high costs of health care, financial need in this focus area has a broader definition than % of federal poverty level.
Social Enterprise
SVP encourages organizations with existing or emerging social enterprises to apply. A social enterprise is an organization or venture that achieves its primary social mission using business methods. Social enterprises are generally launched as a vehicle for social change, to help non-profits to increase sustainability by reducing reliance on charitable contributions and grants, or to accomplish both. To be eligible, the social enterprise would need to support service to low-income individuals (e.g. providing funding for a non-profit that serves low-income individuals) or employ low-income individuals and be developed/offered by a non-profit organization.
